What you can expect from my reviews.
I am not an expert reviewer, but I do read books often. I don’t like to call myself a book reviewer because it sounds clinical as if I’m going to dissect the book and not put it back together again. I prefer the term Book Blogger. I’m not interested in doing a critical analysis of the books I read. Because writing is creative and building a story from nothing is difficult ( even a rubbish book) so the process is to be respected.
My reviews mostly consist of my thoughts and feelings about the books I read, as a result, my reviews are very subjective. If those are not the types of reviews you are looking for/prefer to have from a book blogger blog, this is probably not the place for you. Many other book bloggers whose review are objective and just the facts maam may be a better fit for you, if my style is not to your liking. I tried objective in my reviews breaking everything down it didn’t fit me.
My reviews are honest, I will not compromise my integrity as a book blogger. I review every book that I read, so please be aware that those sometimes include negative reviews. I don’t take pleasure in negating someone’s work, but it a part of the process to impart valuable feedback to the writer that he or she may consider for the next book. Each review includes cover art, publication details, a synopsis of the book, and my personal thoughts about the book. I also try to post my reviews on GoodReads, Amazon, and barnes and Noble as well as Facebook and Twitter. Sometimes I also do an oral review on YouTube.
- Not worth your time. Don’t even pick it up.
- Pass,writing weak, major flaws . wouldn’t recommend.
- Decent written book. Make a library run if you’re curious about it.
- Really liked it. Has spot on my shelf, add to my faves and recommend.
- Loved it recommend to everyone !
Note: Half stars are given when a book is better than average but still doesn’t measure up to a four or higher rating.
Types of books I accept/ do reviews for.
My blog is mainly a Young Adult literature blog but I do (accept) review Adult fiction as well a limited number of Middle Grade literature
Genres that I prefer:
Paranormal (all of its subgenres)
- Contemporary Fiction
- Romance (a select few)
- Graphic novels
- Sci-fi / Steampunk (selective)
I do not usually (accept) review books of the following genre:
- religious themes, mental disorders.
Series: I do prefer NOT to read a series out of sequence. If you have a review request that is part of a series I have not read, I do ask that you provide a copy of each of its predecessors. This will allow for a more effective review. Currently I am not inclined to start a series that has several (more than 3) titles previously published.
E-books: I am accepting e-books for reviews at this time, I purchased my Kindle. However I am NOT currently accepting self-published novels. Maybe at a later date check back as I update policies when I make changes.
What happens when I accept a book for review?
It does NOT guarantee that the novel will be read, or that I will post a review. But I WILL showcase the book on In My Mailbox a meme created by The Story siren on my YouTube as well as my blog, every Sunday.
How long will it take for a review?
It really depends on my schedule at the time I do try to read the review titles that I receive in a timely manner, but I sometimes this is not possible due to time constraints and other distractions in my life (a husband, job, life). If the book is an ARC, I will try to review the book in the month before or surrounding its release date, or shortly after the book is released. I can’t promise in advance to provide a review by a certain date because life is unpredictable and it’s easier for your schedule if I’m not prepared by the date I have given you. To do it on a case by case review.
Books I request
Personally will have precedence over all other titles. Books that are received unsolicited such as via a review request/pitch are second
precedence and will mostly likely be included as my schedule allows. As to whether the title will be read and reviewed. If I have no interested in reading the title, I will respectfully decline or if it’s a physical copy I will passed it along to another blogger who has an interest in said title.
Interviews/ Guest Posts/ Blog Tours:
I am happy to host authors for an interview, guest post, or be stop on a blog tour. If an author interview is requested, I do request that a copy of your novel be sent with ample time to read before the questions need to be submitted. If I am not familiar with your work/with the authors work, I do require the option to read the title before I will agree to an interview or a guest post.
I do not host freelance writers on my blog at this time but check later as I update policies whenever I make changes.
